BIO
Alina Orav (b. 1989) is a visual artist hailing from Estonia, residing & working in Denver, Colorado, USA. She is a member of the Estonian Artists' Association (2014) & the Painters Association (2019). Alina holds a bachelor’s (2013) and a master's degree (2017) in painting from the Estonian Academy of Arts. Complementing her academic journey, she pursued additional studies in Florence (IT, 2011-2012) and Vancouver (CA, 2015). She also gained valuable experience through anamorphic illusion internships in London (UK, 2013) and Amsterdam (NL, 2015), as well as an animation internship in Volda (NO, 2018).
Over the course of her career, Alina has showcased her art through more than 16 solo exhibitions in Estonia, such as at the Haus Gallery (2020), Haapsalu City Gallery (2016), Pärnu City Gallery (2015), and Hobusepea Gallery (2014). Her artistic reach extends internationally with four solo exhibitions in Canada (Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Vancouver CA, 2015), The Cotton Factory (Hamilton CA, 2022), Galleria A2 (Helsinki FI, 2018), and Outvert Art Space (IS, 2020).
Her artistic contributions have been featured alongside fellow creatives in numerous locations including Germany, Denmark, Italy, Finland, Russia, Latvia, Sweden, Canada, USA, Great Britain, Japan and Estonia.
In addition to her artistic endeavors, Alina Orav has curated and designed group exhibitions at the Concourse Gallery (Vancouver CA, 2015) as well as Estonia's 100th-anniversary exhibition at Galleria Kuja (Helsinki FI, 2018).
Alina's innovative approach earned her recognition, securing the State Real Estate Ltd Science and Development Grant (2017) for the inception (2014) and evolution of the polyview image. She introduced her groundbreaking invention at the International Federation for Theatre Research World Congress in Belgrade (RS, 2018). Within the same year, her inaugural multiple-perspective animation took center stage at Tallinn Art Week in the Cathedral for Technology (EE).
Orav’s works can be found in private collections ranging from Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Italy, and Great Britain to the United States, Iceland, and Russia.
